Ferrari Luce EV Reaches 2026 Sales Target Within Two Months Despite Early Criticism
While opinions on the design remain divided, Ferrari’s customer base has historically demonstrated strong brand loyalty.

Ferrari’s first electric vehicle appears to be off to a much stronger start than many expected.
When the automaker introduced the Luce in May, the unveiling sparked widespread criticism online. Some commentators likened the EV’s wedge-shaped design to a Nissan Leaf, while others argued that Chinese electric vehicle manufacturers would deliver better performance at significantly lower prices.

Even former Ferrari chairman Luca Cordero di Montezemolo publicly criticized the vehicle. Investor sentiment also took a hit, with Ferrari shares falling 8% the day after the reveal.
Despite the initial backlash, demand for the all-electric five-seater has reportedly exceeded Ferrari’s early expectations. According to a report from the Financial Times, the company achieved its sales goal for the Luce within just two months of launch.
Ferrari Luce EV Reportedly Sells Out Initial 2026 Sales Allocation
The report says Ferrari planned to sell just under 500 units of the €555,000 ($630,000) Luce during the initial sales period. That target has now reportedly been met.
Previous reports also indicate that at least 20% of the vehicles are expected to be delivered to customers in China. The market has shown strong demand for high-performance, premium four-door electric vehicles, making it a logical destination for the Luce.
Design Criticism Hasn't Slowed Demand For Ferrari's First Electric Car
Much of the online criticism centered on the Luce’s styling, which blends traditional Ferrari design elements with a more unconventional appearance. The five-seat EV was largely designed by Jony Ive and his design firm, LoveFrom.
While opinions on the design remain divided, Ferrari’s customer base has historically demonstrated strong brand loyalty. The company delivered more than 13,000 vehicles last year, a notable figure for a manufacturer focused on six-figure luxury sports cars. Many Ferrari owners also have multiple vehicles in their collections, making the addition of an electric model a natural choice for some buyers.
Early Reviews Suggest The Ferrari Luce Delivers The Brand's Driving Experience
Initial reviews indicate that the Luce delivers the driving characteristics buyers expect from a Ferrari while introducing the brand into the electric era.
Combined with Ferrari’s established reputation and the iconic prancing horse badge, the early sales performance suggests the automaker’s first EV has found its audience despite the skepticism that followed its debut.
