Call of Duty: Warzone is getting a new way for players to control how Operators appear in their matches. Starting with Season 1 of Modern Warfare 4, players will be able to enable an Operator Skin toggle that replaces non-Modern Warfare 4 Operators on their own screen with MW4 Operators.

The new setting is designed specifically for Warzone and will not remove or disable players’ previously earned or purchased Operator skins. Instead, it changes how those appearances are displayed to the individual player who activates the filter.

The toggle will be turned off by default, meaning Warzone players who want to continue seeing the full variety of Operators will not need to change anything. The setting also does not affect what other players see during a match.

How The Warzone Operator Skin Toggle Works

When the Operator Skin toggle is switched on, players will see a Modern Warfare 4 Operator in place of an Operator or skin from another Call of Duty title used by someone else. The change applies to enemies as well as party members and squadmates, both in the lobby and during matches.

There is one important exception: the setting does not change the player's own equipped Operator. If a player chooses an Operator from another Call of Duty title, they will continue to see that Operator themselves.

Call of Duty's official description states: "The toggle only impacts your game, not the experience of others, and will be OFF by default."

That means activating the option is essentially a personal visual preference. Other players will continue to see their own chosen Operators normally.

Modern Warfare 4 Keeps Legacy Call Of Duty Content In Warzone

The new visual filter does not mean previously released content is being removed from Warzone. Activision says Operators and weapons from Modern Warfare II, Modern Warfare III, Black Ops 6, and Black Ops 7 will remain available when Season 1 begins.

Players will also retain skins, Blueprints, and Camos they have previously earned or purchased. The existing Carry Forward plans for earlier Call of Duty titles are not being changed by the new Operator filter.

Legacy weapons will remain accessible through the Legacy tab in Warzone's Loadout menu. Activision says those weapons will not support Gunsmith functionality or previous Custom Loadouts, although five-attachment versions of legacy base weapons and existing Blueprints with their attachment configurations will remain available.

Warzone Gets A More Modern Warfare 4-Focused Look

The Operator toggle arrives as Warzone moves into its Modern Warfare 4 chapter. Activision says the feature is intended to give players more control over how Warzone looks while continuing to preserve access to content accumulated across recent Call of Duty releases.

The company also says its goal is for Warzone's weapon meta to remain rooted in Modern Warfare 4 while retaining older content for players who want to use it. Raven Software is expected to continue balancing weapons on a biweekly basis throughout the Modern Warfare 4 seasons.

Modern Warfare 4 is scheduled for release on October 23, 2026, with Season 1 bringing the new Warzone Operator Skin toggle.
